Location Awareness provides an understanding of the number of vendors and their locations. This enables effective risk management, cost optimization, and robust supply chain operations for successful strategic procurement.
Location diversification increases your resilience to single country shock events and reduces the risk of production delays. Understanding vendor locations helps you assess shipping costs and lead times from their manufacturing sites to your production sites. If your operations are global, you will want vendors close to your sites to reduce shipping time and costs but may also need to consider further vendors who can provide specialized components that are not available local to your production.
See Worldwide Vendor Locations
Within Location Awareness, filter on a Vendor or Country to see those locations that may impact you. For example, (1) picking China will filter the Vendor Map down to China and will filter the vendor list down to vendors who operate there; from there, we can (2) pick three vendors we want to look at and (3) compare their location details simultaneously in the Vendor Map.
If you want to examine specific site types for a vendor in an entire geographic region, you can do that and assess your regional geographic diversification with this vendor.
- Select a vendor.
- Select a location type (e.g. Manufacturing).
- Zoom in the map with the [+] sign or scrolling the mouse wheel forward while pointing your cursor.
- Review your country diversification by this vendor.
- See exact location details for all of this vendor's manufacturing sites.
Location Awareness provides a unique dashboard for drilling into your geographic diversification and informing your decisions around risk assessment and shifting sourcing.
