In the Supplier Portal, when attempting to use the Excel upload function (pictured below) to import updates to a Request for Quote (RFQ) or Request for Information (RFI) you may receive an error that says "Invalid File Type"
Invalid File Type errors generally occur due to special characters that interfere with the system reading of the extension / file type. For example, you may want to upload an Excel Workbook with the name RFQ_xyz_2022.02.01.xlsx which would prompt the Invalid File Type error.
The reason being is that the system needs to read only one period "." before the filetype extension .xlsx to know that it is receiving an Excel Workbook. In this case, the date format in RFQ_xyz_2022.02.01.xlsx interferes with the ability of the system to identify one period before the file type.
It is a best practice to use dashes "-" or underscores "_" to separate your date format to prevent this error.
