Table of Contents: Release Highlights
- Enhancements to New Product Accelerator (NPA)
- Enhancements to Cost Optimizer (CO)
- Enhancements to Smart RFX (SRFX)
- Enhancements to Supply Risk Navigator (SRN)
1. Enhancements to New Product Accelerator (NPA)
a. Autofill Specify Reference Quarter
When Auto-filling part information into a bill of materials (BOM), users will now be able to select a reference quarter, limiting the auto-filling action to only produce data for that timeframe. Previously, the reference cost quarter configuration was available in the program profile for the users to edit. Users can now select the reference cost quarter from the Autofill dialog to reduce the additional steps in completing the BOM and improve cost accuracy.
b. Preserve Preferred BOM View
NPA supports two types of BOM views: Structured and Flattened. The structured BOM view is the default view for new users; however, users can switch between structured and flattened BOM views using the "Switch BOM View" menu on the BOM management page.
LevaData Platform now preserves the preferred BOM view of the users when the user makes a selection from the menu. The last selected BOM view type is maintained when the user logs back in or navigates back to NPA BOM Management from other application modules.
c. Improved Show Errors and Show Changes Functionalities
Show Errors option is now available in both the BOM overview and checkout page. Previously errors in the BOM Management grid were always shown by default. Now users can disable or enable showing errors using the Show Errors checkbox. When the Show Errors checkbox is enabled, the errors are highlighted with a red-colored border. In addition, the grid filters the parts that only contain errors along with its parent and children in the sub-assembly.
Show Changes highlights the recent changes with a blue-colored border and also filters the modified parts with its parent and children in the sub-assembly.
d. Better Styled Task Notification Emails for Outlook
NPA's Integrated Task Manager sends out email notifications to users whenever a task is created, closed manually, or through Best BOM Costing Automation. These NPA task management emails are now styled better to be interacted with via Outlook in addition to browser-based email clients.
e. Tooltip to Show Program Profile
The program name on the BOM Management page now has a tooltip when user performs a mouse-over action. The tooltip provides a quick reference to various parameters of the current program such as Product Family, Reference Cost Quarter, Expected Rollout Date, Forecast, Current Stage and Target Cost.
2. Enhancements to Cost Optimizer (CO)
a. Review Opportunities: Filter Opportunities by Product and Product Family
When using Review Opportunities, users can now easily filter the opportunities by product and product family. Simply (1) open the Opportunity Scoreboard by clicking the arrow, and then select from the dropdowns either (2) Product Family or (3) Product.
Within the Review Opportunities table, there is now (1) a column called Where Used (in Products), where users will be able to match the part savings opportunity to the product it is associated with. This will help to inform key stakeholders like commodity managers and product managers on where part-level cost savings can be realized for specific products in their portfolio. (2) Hovering over the entry in Where Used (in Products) produces a pop-up tooltip which extends and displays all of associated products for that line item if they cannot fit in the column width.
If you (3) click into the Opportunity Type to drill into additional insights for that opportunity, you are taken to the details page where you can see a single opportunity or compare it to other opportunities with the same part. At the bottom, under Customer Part Number (CPN) Details, the field Where Used (in Products) is now visible there as well for the associated CPN while you are analyzing the opportunity.
b. Review Opportunities: Run Auto-Action Rules Immediately Post-Creation
Users will now be able to run auto-action rules as soon as they are created in the Review Opportunities module. Previously, when a user would create their rules, the user would not have a provision to trigger the rules. Users would need to wait until the next data refresh to see the auto-rules applied to the opportunities.
In this release we are extending the capability to users to instantly run the rules they create. Those with privileges pertaining to the rule (rule creator, admin, super admin) can run the rules, and also delete the rules if required. Other users besides the owner can view the rule details and last run details.
Within Review Opportunities, click the auto action rules button:
Here you can review your existing Auto Action Rules or select the (+) icon to create a new one:
The Auto Action Rules allows you to setup rules for auto-accept or auto-reject, and this test example is unlikely to be triggered, given the conditions below, but once we have created it, it will appear in the list.
Now when we return to the Auto Action Rules list, we can (1) click the new rule, and (2) immediately Run Now so the ruleset fires off and automatically accepts any reviewed opportunities that meet the criteria of the ruleset.
c. Navigate to Negotiation Playbook from Review Opportunities
While using the Review Opportunities module, users will now be able to (1) Right click on the supplier or anywhere else in that row entry and then (2) Navigate to that supplier’s Negotiation Playbook entry.
Once you are in the Negotiation Playbook, you can use any of the sub-tabs (e.g. (1) Spend and Savings) to get more information, and once you are done browsing the Negotiation Playbook, you can (2) Navigate Back to Review Opportunities with the X icon in the top right. This contextual navigation option will be present if you enter the Negotiation Playbook via Review Opportunities.
3. Enhancements to Smart RFX (SRFX)
a. Invite Additional Suppliers
Users will now be able to add new suppliers as RFQ recipients during RFQ creation, they will not be restricted to only using pre-defined suppliers from a previous data load. Inviting additional suppliers to participate in the bidding process assists in expanding the scope for negotiation from the buyer perspective and permits participation from multiple additional suppliers who would otherwise not receive a request for quote.
On the RFX Draft screen, clicking into the (1) Quick Action menu (lightning bolt icon) produces a new feature called (2) Invite Supplier:
To invite additional suppliers to participate in the RFQ bidding, the user can select the respective parts from the RFQ scope and click on Invite Supplier.
When the Invite Suppliers pop-up appears, the user can select the suppliers that they wish to invite and click on the Invite button:
Additional Line items with the newly invited suppliers are added to the RFQ scope:
The User can modify the MPN and Manufacturer attributes if they need to:
Once the modifications are completed, by selecting the newly added line items, the user can proceed to the RFX preview page and notice the newly added line items are differentiated with a gold background color:
b. Explore Alternatives
Users can now search for Alternate MPNs and Alternate Suppliers while creating an RFQ. When parts shortages occur, or lead times get too high, users need the option to look for broader alternatives within their cost range.
To find an Alternate MPN and the respective supplier, the user can (1) select the desired CPN and then click into the (2) Quick Action menu (lightning bolt icon) to get to the new feature called (3) Explore Alternatives:
Upon clicking on Explore Alternatives, a dialog appears with matching MPN results:
By having the Reference MPN, which is the original MPN used to Explore Alternatives, additional information is provided to the user to evaluate the alternatives, including:
- Matched MPN
- Matched Manufacturer
- Matched Supplier
- Years to End of Life (EOL)
- Financial Health Rating
- Lead Time
- Location
- and Status
Within the Invite Suppliers prompt, the user can select one or more Matched MPNs and invite the respective Matched Suppliers to participate in the RFQ. After clicking on the Invite button, a new line item is added to the RFQ Scope with the alternate MPNs and suppliers:
Once the modifications are completed, by selecting the newly added line items, the user can proceed to the RFX preview page.
Note: Only one CPN can be selected at a time for Exploring Alternate MPNs. When trying to (1) select multiple rows, (2) an error is displayed, and the action cannot be completed.
4. Enhancements to Supply Risk Navigator (SRN)
a. Enhancements to Adding a New Customer Event
Within the Customer Events screen, when users Add a new (1) geographic event type, they can (2) select any combination of Geography and Suppliers. If Geography is selected and (3) no suppliers are selected, then all suppliers is the default in the "Supplier Sites Affected" list on the Events main page; the suppliers are not, however, listed in the event details (this functionality will be added in a future release).
The site location of the geographic event can be (4) set to "Country" and in any secondary field with all selected, all suppliers and sites in the country will be attached to the event. (5) Clicking on Expand in either Site Location Details or Associated News allows the user to edit those values.
b. Minor Enhancements to Portfolio Risk Dashboard
- Top Risks: CPN Table
- Updated the sorting to be based on the Risk column, from Highest to Lowest
- Changed the label VMI: Vendor Managed Inventory (Strategic) to Vendor Managed Inventory (Months)
- Added CPN description between CPN and CM/ODM columns
- Added the Product Sales Impact Column to the Manufacturer Risk Factors Table
- Set Preferred Supplier Likelihood to Medium when the supplier is not on the Approved Vendor List (AVL); previously it was set to Very High
- Show Average Resolution Time for events over the past 12 months.
c. Minor Enhancements to Events Expandable Scoreboard
The Expandable Scoreboard was updated as shown below:
- Spend (both Portfolio and Spend potentially impacted by Events) now reflects four quarters instead of one quarter.
- Counts of Events in each state are added; these include both LevaData-generated events and customer-created events.
- The counts of Impacted Suppliers and Impacted Parts Summary are now shown as a bar chart and can be toggled via the View by Dropdown.
- Expandable Map View: The map (in the middle of the expandable scoreboard) can itself be expanded by invoking the expansion icon in the upper right corner of the map, which produces this larger view
- Orange highlighting of Potential Spend Impact is no longer included
- The label of the "Customer Events" button was changed to "My Events" which is used for private event creation.
- When a filter is selected (e.g. Manufacturing) on Events By Type in the map, it now applies that filter to the event table below:
