How to use Impact Radius and find alternative sourcing locations Follow
LevaData's Impact Radius and Alternate Locations feature is crucial for evaluating an event's effects on vendors in a particular region and considering alternative locations for sourcing parts adversely affected by the event.
Key Features
This feature is essential for locating alternative or backup sourcing locations for parts. It allows you to quickly secure priority allocation before competitors if an incident disrupts sourcing from the primary location.
Understanding Potential Impacts
- Proactively understand the potential impact of events like hurricanes or floods.
- Zoom in on the relevant section of the map to identify the area that might be impacted.
- Determine who and what parts in that vicinity could be at risk.
Example: Typhoon in Japan
Imagine a typhoon is on its way to Japan, and we want to identify the vendors that lie in its path:
- Right-click on a vendor location to enable the Impact Radius slider.
- Broaden the radius to ensure all vendors in the storm's path are accounted for.
- View the impacted vendors and the associated parts.
- Access blended insights like lead times, years to end of life, and associated procurement spend.
- Pinpoint components exclusively acquired from that country.
Considering Alternate Locations
Explore alternate locations for sourcing parts:
- Locations are based on the customer's known country of origins.
- If a customer lacks country of origin data, LevaData can assist in sourcing this information from suppliers or filling in data gaps.
Example: Alternate Locations for a Vendor
- Right-click on a vendor location bubble.
- Select "View Alternate Locations" from the pull-down menu.
- A pop-up will show other locations for these vendors.
This method allows you to quickly click and assess the impact in a specific area while identifying alternative locations that can supply your parts. Additionally, observe the potentially affected spending amount, as well as the number of parts and manufacturers involved.
