Lookup Follow
The (Cost) Lookup function is a tool to quickly view part cost and associated data. It can be conducted with either a Commodity or Product Scope and then return key information to you which can be viewed in the interface or exported to an Excel Workbook. It is accessible in the left navigation as the second sub-item underneath the Reports option:
Commodity Cost Lookup
In (1) Commodity Scope, (2) make your selection between MPN, CPN, or Description. Once you have done so (like MPN in this example) you can Select the MPN in the adjacent dropdown box and click the arrow to send the search. You can also choose between (3) Current Quarter or Next Quarter.
If you want to perform a simultaneous multiple part lookup, you can (4) Download the Template and enter multiple parts in the exported Excel Workbook and then (5) upload that file back into the lookup tool to return lookup information for multiple parts simultaneously.
As an example, downloading the Commodity Cost Excel Workbook template and entering in three MPNs and then saving the file for re-import into the tool:
Then (1) selecting that file on your local machine, (2) pressing the arrow to confirm the upload, (3) validating that input has been provided in the menu header, and (4) seeing the three example MPNs listed into the lookup tool confirms that the simultaneous lookup search was successful, and the information has been returned to you in the table view for analysis. If you want to export it to an Excel Workbook, then (5) click the Excel icon in the upper right of the table.
On the right-hand side of the table interface, the user can select Columns to include or exclude any of the following information in the lookup table:
Product Cost Lookup
Retains almost all of the same instructions as above with different search parameters. First (1) validate that you are in Product Scope, then (2) make a search selection between Product and Description. From there, you can proceed exactly as described above and make individual or multiple lookups as you prefer.
Conclusion
Hopefully now you understand all of the parameters that you can perform lookups against in both Commodity and Product Scope and how to switch between those scopes. You should also understand how to perform single and multiple lookup searches and what values you can include or exclude in the table view displaying your results. If you have any questions, as always, you can request assistance from the help desk.
